This is an English-language summary for convenience. **The
[Datenschutzerklärung](/datenschutz) is the legally binding version** under German and EU law
(GDPR); if the two ever disagree, the German text governs.

## What this site collects

There is no analytics, no tracking cookie and no advertising on this site.

**Server logs.** The hosting provider automatically logs IP address, date/time, requested file
and referrer for a short period, to keep the site technically stable and secure.

**Contact by email.** If you email me, I process the data you send to answer your message, for
as long as needed to handle the request and any applicable retention rules.

**Video embeds.** YouTube videos are embedded as a privacy-friendly preview — only a thumbnail
loads from *i.ytimg.com* until you click play, at which point the full YouTube player (and its
cookies) loads. Vimeo videos, where used, embed directly and contact Vimeo's servers as soon as
the page loads.

**Newsletter.** Signing up for the occasional newsletter uses Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.), on a
double opt-in basis. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any newsletter email. There
is no open- or click-tracking on the newsletter.

## Third countries (USA)

Google (YouTube), Vimeo and Mailchimp/Intuit process some data in the US, under the EU–US Data
Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses.

## Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing,
